Kristen Strom Plays Hank Mobley’s Soul Station

Thursday, February 20, we will play a special concert at the SFJAZZ Center as part of their Hotplate series, Kristen Strom Plays Hank Mobley’s Soul Station. We will play all the tunes from this swinging album from tenor sax titan, Hank Mobley. Hank was a major figure of hard-bop jazz, with a bluesy and melodic style. I’ve always loved this album – one of jazz’s 100-top records – and am thrilled to perform it and honor Hank.

I’ll have this swingin’ band:

Scott Sorkin – guitar

Ken Okada – bass

Jason Lewis – drums

With a special guest on piano, Tammy Lynn Hall!

My new album, “Moving Day: The Music of John Shifflett” has been released on the Origin OA2 label. It’s available on Bandcamp or at Origin Arts.com.
